Most churches hold worship services on Sundays. That is because Christians believe Sunday is the day Jesus rose from the dead. Christians worship in many different ways, including hymns and readings from the Bible. Hymns are songs that praise G-d. Sometimes services include a sermon given by the church leader, the priest or a minister. A sermon is a speech that teaches the members of the church about religion. People also pray during services. People pray out loud or silently.

According to the Gospels in the Christian Bible, Jesus went to Jerusalem for Passover. The Roman rulers there feared that he would start a revolt, so they decided to execute him. As done as tredition in that time, they nailed him to a cross, which is the sign for Christianity today. After he was buried, Christians believe he rose from the dead and appeared to his disciplines before going to heaven. This is a Christian miracle called the Ressurection.

Christmas and Easter are 2 of the most celebrated holidays for all Christians. Christmas is the holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus. The Gospel of Luke shares the story of the first Christmas. The story of Christmas starts with Jesus' parents, Mary and Joseph, traveling to the town of Bethlehem. That is where Mary gave birth to Jesus. That night, angels showed up in the sky and said, "Glory to G-d in the highest, and on Earth peace, goodwill toward men." Today, Christians come together with family and in churches to retell this story. Easter is the most important holiday in Christianity. It celebrates Jesus coming back to life. Before Easter, Christian take part in a observance that is well known as Lent. Lent is the 40 days in which Jesus spent in the wilderness before he began to preach. During that time Jesus did not eat. Since people cannot go 40 days without eating, they choose a favorite food to give up. For example, chocolate. The last week of Lent is also known as Holy Week. It starts with Palm Sunday which marks Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Passover. According to the gospels, Jesus was welcomed with cheering crowds. On Palm Sunday, some Christians may decide to wear crosses made from palm leaves. At the end of the week, Good Friday is celebrated. This day marks when Jesus was crucified. Most churches hold services to remember Jesus' suffering and death.`
