Similarities: There is a main character. There is grass. They are on earth. There is a country. We can read.

The similarities are that Percy is the son of Poseidon, and the master bolt has been stolen. Ms. Dodds is a fury and pre-algebra teacher in the book and movie and smelly Gabe is a jerk and a lowlife. Percy's mom is also "killed" by the minotaur and Percy goes to camp half blood. In the movie, Percy looks old, and Grover looks like he is 20. Mr. Brunner also talks about half bloods in the museum, and they fight a hydra. Hades helm also hasn't been stolen and Luke serves Hades instead of Kronos.

In the movie, Grover has crutches, Ms. Dodds didn't explode into dust, Ms. Dodds broke the glass window, and the pen didn't have a cap.

In both the movie and the book, Mount Olympus was in New York City. Mount Olympus had an elevator and was located in the Empire State Building. Zeus and Poseidon both existed and were rivals, and Percy went to Yancy Academy.

Book

1. Percy attacks Mrs. Dodds with the sword.

2. Percy and Annabeth are on the same team in Capture the Flag, and he discovers the identity of his father during the game when he battles Clarisse.

3. Percy, Annabeth, and Grover's destinations are St. Louis, the Emporium, the Lotus Casino, Krusty's Palace, and the Recording Studios.

4. Ares was the one who teamed up with Luke to steal the bolt, building up tension between to gods to start a war. He tricked Percy so that he has the bolt and the Helm of Darkness.

5. Percy battles with Ares to obtain the Helm and the bolt.

Film

1. Mrs. Dodds flees the scene after Grover and Chiron arrive.

2. In Capture the Flag, Percy already knows who his father is, and he and Annabeth are on different teams.

3. Instead of obtaining the bolt like in the book, the main plan is for Percy to bargain with Zeus, though Percy, Grover, and Annabeth go on their own accord and set off on a journey to the Underworld.

4. The trio's destinations are the Emporium, the Parthenon, and the Lotus Casino. At the Parthenon, they battle the Hydra, which was never mentioned in the book.

5. The lightning bolt was hidden in the shield that Luke had given to Percy.

6. Instead of Percy's mother, Grover stays in the Underworld since they only have three pearls.

7. Instead of battling with Ares to obtain the Helm and the bolt, Percy defeats Luke at the Empire State Building.

Similarities

1. Percy decapitates Medusa with his sword.

2. The three pearls are used to escape the Underworld.

3. Percy battles near the end of the film/book to obtain the bolt.

4. Percy uses his water-controlling abilities to defeat his opponents.

In the movie, Percy doesn't kill the fury and Hades wants war and appears in a fire after capture the flag. Percy gets on a quest to get pearls. He goes to Hades and the lightning bolt was in his shield. they fight and Luke tries to kill them. Percy wins and saves the world.

The similarities are that the main character is still Percy and he saves the world. He also kills the minotaur and medusa. Luke is still evil and Zeus thinks Percy steals the lightning bolt.

7. Luke's shoes in the film are meant to help him with the quest.

8. Percy also battles the hydra, which was never mentioned in the book.

Differences

In the movie Ms. Dodds escapes but in the book, Percy slices her with his pen sword. In the book Percy gets claimed by a huge trident appearing above his head after capture the flag but in the movie when he arrives, they just know. In the book Grover says maya to activate the shoes but in the movie, they have to build up speed to activate the shoes. In the book they meet Aries to get his shield so then he can help them but, in the movie, they never even meet Aries. In the book they left his mom in hell but in the movie, they left Grover in hell so then his mom can leave.

Similarities

Percy has dyslexia.

Smelly Gabe is still a jerk.

In the movie, Percy is old ahh, Mrs. Dodds is an English teacher, and they are in high school. Furthermore, he didn't kill Mrs. Dodds or push Nancy.

There are some similarities between the two, such as the setting (mostly), the characters, the plot/main idea (mostly), he gets anaklusmos, and the fact that he went to camp half-blood.
