         <description><![CDATA[<div>Europeans first settled in what is now Ghana in the 15th century where the Portuguese found huge numbers of gold deposits. For hundreds of years, the capital city Acca was a center for slave trade. Slave trade was finally banned in the early 19th century, and Ghana became a British colony. In the year 1957, Ghana gained its independence from Ghana and became the Republic of Ghana.</div>]]></description>
