There are many reasons as to why one would save the baby over the bunny. For one, humans are biologically wired to feel more sympathy for a human as opposed to an animal, which makes sense as they are part of our evolutionary group. Any believer in Darwinism will agree. Those who feel sympathy for a bunny lack the acknowledgement that rabbits are rodents with an already overly-populated population, assuming that they are not domesticated. Any sentient being deserves the right to live. There is nothing that a human innately has that a bunny does not that makes a human life more valuable than that of a human. Humans, on the other hand, are destructive mammals that have massive negative impacts on society. Bunnies contribute to the global ecosystem. Humans destroy it. Bunnies lives are worth just as much as human lives. The families of the bunnies will miss the bunnies just as much as humans will. There will also be a hundredfold more families missing a member if the bunnies die. Furthermore, could a family really care about their baby if they leave it in a stroller on the edge of cliff? Bunnies are also most often pets because bunnies die naturally in the wild and no wild bunnies are slow enough to be caught to be put on a bus. In other words, saving the bunnies would also decrease human suffering because less humans would mourn over their family pet. Obviously, it is the best and most ethical decision because a baby is a human life and I question the humanity of anyone who puts the life of a rodent above a fellow human being. Even if that baby grew up to become Hitler, I would still save the baby because it is in that moment innocent and helpless, possibly even more helpless than the rabbits since rabbits multiply at an uncontrollable rate.
