It formed over millions of years as the Zambezi river gradually eroded the basalt rock creating a series of gorges (narrow valley with steep, rocky walls) that led to their formation. They are a result of soft sandstone filling large cracks in the basalt of the plateau (flat elevated landform).

While not the tallest waterfall in the world (there are about 500 other waterfalls that make that list), Niagara Falls likely has the highest flow rate. Over 700,000 gallons of water falls per second from its crestline.

There were times when the waters of the Niagara stopped flowing. However, those were the times recorded in history only. These incidents occurred in 1848 and in 1969. In 1848, Niagara stopped due to an ice jam that restricted the flow of the water. This lasted from 30 to 40 hours.

It is possible to control and even stop the water flowing down Niagara Falls.

Owengarriff River

The 20 meters high waterfall is formed by the Owengarriff River as it drains from the Devil's Punchbowl lough, a deep cirque high above in Mangerton Mountain. Torc Waterfall sits on a geological fault called the Muckross to Millstreet Fault Line.

The area around it is full of wild life and it is heavily forested.

It is located in Kerry national park

Serpentine National park is outside the same town of Serpentine which is in WA ( Western Australia) 65.2 km outside of Perth, Australia. It's apart of the Serpentine river. The Serpentine falls are located at 32°22′05″S 116°00′40″E ( the c-orodinates. ) The area around it is a National Park. It is a popular swimming place, but is not recommended you do so.
