Before 1945 it was Konigsberg, the centre of Prussian State. Many years ago here was the independent state, which was 1870-1871 the main political might for unification of Germany. Prussian military were the most professional in the Europe, but then it was only one region of the German Empire. Then, 1945, the Red Army of USSR occupied East Prussia and Konigsberg as part of Western Campaign against the Nazi Germany. At the Potsdam Conference this region with the centre in Konigsberg was given to USSR as the recompense for the millions of murdered peoples and destroyed places. In the end of 1945 90% of old Konigsberg was brought to the ruins.

In this epoch the city has became also the new Russian name as a tribute to one soviet communist functionary Kalinin – Kaliningrad. This time the region was known as military avant-garde of USSR in the Europe. The most people worked as military or seamen. For this time it was forbidden area and the German population deported though 1948 haven’t chances to visit it. The borders became free status and all the Foreign can visit the region and the city. Now Kaliningrad is one of the main tourism centres in Russia and there are a lot of hotels, shopping malls and restaurants. The great and rich culture of this land from Prussian Time to the contemporary Russian art and architecture are interesting to see it.

There are the dunes and the old forests that were the places for witchcraft of Prussian votary during the ancient history. There are a lot of red brick churches on the hilltops and I really love the bitter beauty of this land. Here there are gorgeous monuments of old German architecture, that whish were reconstructed in the 1990th. So you can find the vestiges of the wrecking history.

We joke that you feel the winter in the morning, the summer in the Afternoon and the autumn during the day because it can rain for 20 minutes and then you can enjoy the sun for next 2-3 hours before the next rain cloud will come...
