6/2/23 - Make a mind-map of ideas around thinking of yourself as a business and what I could include, cover as many elements as possible to get ideas for different sections that I could cover in the article.   
13/2/23 - Make a list of magazine articles, websites, journals and books related to want I want to talk about and make notes on each of them on any beneficial information that I could include in my article. Also look at what dancer I would like to include that can show how they have thought of themself as a business. When writing notes about these websites, I will remember to include the title of the website/journal that I am researching so I can keep track of where I got all of the information from when it comes to Harvard referencing.  
27/2/23 - Go over all information I have gathered from all the research and separate them with colour coding into the different sections I want to talk about in my article making it easier to just put in all the information when it comes to it.  
28/2/23 - Have a look on Canva and find the best template for my article. Find something that has lots of space for the writing. Find a colour scheme I can work with and space for small pictures that I can add.  
6/3/23 - Come up with first draft of my magazine article. Make a checklist beforehand of everything that I need to include. This is things like, a headline, sub-headlines, main body, pictures, more writing that pictures, add my name, quotes, introduction paragraph, and a conclusion. Write my first draft of the main body writing in word first so that I can have the word count for it as I go along before adding it to the template. Get the main body of writing done and also get a draft of the Harvard referencing. Include pictures that are within my colour scheme and related to what I'm talking about. 
13/3/23 - Once I have feedback from my tutor on how to improve my article, re visit the body of my magazine and my reference list and apply all the feedback I have been given to make sure it is at a high standard.   Once updated, go onto Moodle and submit my work.

The author of this journal is Betsy Struxness. Betsy Struxness is a Broadway performer, making an appearance in shows such as Hamilton, Matilda, Leap of faith, Memphis and Wicked. Firstly, in this journal she answers some questions about her dance career giving a good insight into things she has learnt in the dance industry. Betsy then talks about the importance of an entrepreneurial approach to our career in dance. This reveals that thinking like an entrepreneur when trying to establish your dance career is very beneficial as they have qualities that we can use. Skills such as networking, problem-solving, collaboration, and time management are able to deal uncertainty. Dancers can find themselves in a block with their career sometimes meaning 3jobs like performing may not always be available so it is beneficial to have other skills that can help you to be employed at another dance related job. She also talks about your different strengths outside of performing that you can enhance for ypur benefit to make yourself employable on a variety of dance jobs.  I have used this Journal as it really helped me to understand more about the skills that an entrepreneur has and how we can use them to help elevate our dance career. Victoria is a professional Tap dancer, choreographer and producer. She founded and directed the Las Vegas Tap Dance Festival. This journal is about thinking of yourself as a small business and gives different tips to help dancers establish their career. These tips include the importance of getting involved and networking to grow your community. She also taught good qualities such as being prepared and being a resource to other dancers which are also useful in your dance career. This journal reveals that other skills, are also just as useful as the physical skills. It’s about being smart with what you can put out into the world and realising your potential if you just do simple things like networking. Online presence is also spoken about which gave me lots of inspiration whilst covering the social media part of my article. Victoria Jones talks about using social media to promote your dance videos which is a great way of putting yourself out their online and using social media to its advantages as technology has advanced and agencies, choreographers, and other employers look on social media for candidates now more than ever. I have used this because, like I mentioned before, it gave me so much inspiration for the social media part of my article.
