GUIDING QUESTION!!! Why are some successful, while others fail to achieve their goals?

I believe that the factors of what prevents the people from achieving their goals is why some people fail. Take Romeo and Juliet for example, the reason why they died is because their families were sworn enemies, Juliet was put in an arranged marriage and the letter stating that Juliet didn't die was never delivered to Romeo. When people are successful and were able to conquer what prevented them from achieving their goals. As another example, The Alchemist is a story where a boy named Santiago wants to travel the world and find a treasure in Egypt after having a prophetic dream about it. He faced many problems such as being robbed by someone and having to work for a crystal merchant for a while or finding love and nearly quitting his journey in order to be with Fatima. He manages to overcome these factors and he finds his treasure in the end. Overall, it depends on how people are able to accomplish their goals, but some unfortunate people, such as Romeo and Juliet, weren't able to overcome their problems, but they couldn't help that because Romeo didn't know Juliet wasn't alive.

So today, I took two photos, one had a broad topic, while the other had a narrowed topic, which had to do with the first topic.

The photo I took was from the outdoor view from Island View High which has the ocean, sky, houses, trees and snow, to name a few. The thing I put into focus was a fallen tree. I think it stands out from all the other trees, because it's lying on the ground and it's deciduous, because it's missing it's leaves. Those two factors makes it easier to focus on because all of the trees are upright and coniferous.
