         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Chloroplasts are one of several different types of plastids, plant cell organelles that are involved in energy storage and the synthesis of metabolic materials.</li><li>All green structures in plants contain chloroplast, but leaves are the major sites for photosynthesis.</li><li>The chloroplast is different from most other organelles because it has its own DNA and reproduces independently.</li><li>They are found mainly in the cells of the <strong>mesophyll</strong>, the tissue of the interior of the leaf.</li><li>A typical mesophyll cell has 30-40 chloroplasts. Each chloroplast contains two membranes that surround a fluid called the stroma.  </li><li>Within the stroma is a third membrane system known as <strong>thylakoids</strong>. Stacks of thylakoids host the green pigment Chlorophyll that gives the leaf color.</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- During photosynthesis, CO2 enters the leaf, while O2 exits through microscopic pores called the stomata.<br>- At the same time, chlorophyll absorbs light energy from sunlight and converts it into chemical energy.<br>- Chemical energy also leads to the production of organic compounds such as <strong>glucose.</strong> The organic compounds are sources of energy for the plants and were stored in the chloroplast until transported to other parts of the plant through veins.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Chloroplast vs. Mitochondria</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Chloroplast and mitochondria are the two organelles that produce energy in a plant cell. While chloroplast functions during the day through photosynthesis, mitochondria functions at night through <strong>cellular respiration</strong>.<br>Cellular respiration is the metabolic process that uses oxygen to produce the chemical energy known as <strong>ATP</strong>.<br>This shows a potential downside of chloroplast. It can only function during daylight. Therefore, plants have to absorb O2 at night through cellular respiration.<br>This is why some experts do not suggest having plants in bedrooms at night, as plants will compete against us for oxygen.</div>]]></description>
