World Wide Fund for Nature (English: World Wide Fund for Nature, abbreviation: WWF), established on April 29, 1961 (when it was established, World Wildlife Fund, English: World Wildlife Fund, changed its name in 1986, but still used in the United States and Canada), whose symbol is a panda. WWF's ultimate goal is to halt and ultimately reverse the accelerated deterioration of the planet's natural environment and help create a future where people live in harmony with nature.

It is the largest environmental organization in the world, active in more than 100 countries. Ji Ji was originally a panda gifted to the Soviet Union, but was mistaken for a male panda by the Soviet side and returned. In 1956, it was purchased from the Beijing Zoo by Austrian animal businessman Heine Demer, and then moved to the London Zoo until his death.

WWF specifically needed a logo that would cross human language and cultural barriers, be easily recognizable and make a strong impression easily. Pandas have a cute, fluffy, round body and attractive black eye rims.

The founders of WWF agreed that its image was a perfect fit for the organization's logo. The first sketches were written by British environmentalist and artist Gerald Watterson. One of the founders of WWF, Sir Peter Scott, drew the first official WWF logo on this basis. He said at the time: "We chose it because it is a beautiful and endangered species with attractive qualities that are loved by many people around the world."

Due to the vast and remote nature of Antarctica and the Southern Ocean, studies like this have proved challenging in the past. Analysing data from a ten-year period, for 17 different species, was a huge, but highly valuable, task.  
With the help of WWF supporters, we’re one step closer to safeguarding key feeding sites in the Southern Ocean, and the wildlife that depends on them. We’re using the results of this study to identify important places needing greater protection and push for the creation of a vast network of effective marine protected areas surrounding Antarctica.  
As temperatures rise in the polar regions, scientists will continue to assess the impacts using techniques like this. The more we know about Antarctic wildlife, the better we can protect it.
