With this poem, I was not able to annotate it that way and hence had to stop and read the text for understanding. :)

I felt that with each round of reading, I was understanding the text differently. I also felt a little lost when there was a 'clash' in the what I thought the poem was about at first vs what I thought it was after reading it a second and third time. 

Having read up about the Vietnam war did not help me understand the poem 'better' in a way as the poem was beyond facts. The emotions that the visual evoked in us was very different from knowing what you already know.
