Creativity: Uses a servo to lift our shower hook, and the hook disconnects after it grabs the bar. We attached strong magnets to the hook so that it can stay in place during the match, but it is still able to disconnect easily.

Creativity: Uses a servo to release a rubber band which activates the slider to launch the plane. The slider is essential for not destroying the plane on release while allowing it to fly the correct distance.

Creativity: The robots' arm is mostly 3D printed and is powered by two servos input into custom servo boxes that increase arm torque to decrease stress on the servos.

Creativity: Our innovative idea is the "swing" system on the outtake, this allows us to save space and slot for one servo by releasing pixels one at a time with this system.

Creativity: Uses chain to mechanically lift hook as linear actuator extends, allowing it to stay below 14 inches when retracted. Allows hook to rotate up without servo which would not support load of the robot by putting tension on the chain as the actuator extends.

Highlight: When our actuator motor overheated in competition, requiring 4 engineers to fan it out for 5 min.

Creativity: Uses a retractable intake mechanism to grab pixels from the stack and the floor. It uses a suspension on the retraction linkage to increase intake robustness and reduce servo strain.

Creativity: Placing system is modeled after an arm, with a shoulder, elbow, hand, and 5 fingers (4 for placing pixels and 1 for adjusting pixels). It swings out from the intake to place, and it is also how we suspend.

Highlight: Scored 6 of the top 10 scores in Utah (our region) and won Winning Alliance Captain 3 times this season (out of four competitions)

Creativity: Our claw is designed to perfectly clamp on to a pixel that comes from the ramp, and it can deposit a pixel in a single motion. This made it very easy to score pixels once we made it to the backstage.

Creativity: To ensure the Pixel placement within is the same every time, we have 3 independent passive mechanisms on the Magazine: a one-way door, passive top flaps, and compliant inner strips. Once the pixels are propelled up the ramp into the Magazine, the compressed one-way door at the entrance springs back up, preventing the Pixels from sliding back out. The Pixels automatically reorient themselves into the optimum position for pick-up as they are restricted by thin and flexible 3D-printed inner strips inside the Magazine. Furthermore, the spring-loaded Magazine top flaps remained closed until being lifted open solely by the automated motion of dropping the outtake arm to grab, further preventing the Pixels from flying out.

Creativity:

We were able to make many optimizations to the REV Duo Starterbot, such as adding a wedge to passively lift the stage door, a drone powered by a rubber band, a redesigned claw that can pick 2 pixels at once and drop them individually, and hooks for our hanging mechanism.

Highlight:

This was our rookie year, and we've had an amazing season. We reached an OPR of 125, and won the SD interleague (WA1) and the SD regionals (WA2). Our 2+0 auto and hang were successful for 15 matches in a row.

Creativity: inspiration from a human's arm in constructing the intake/outtake. A worm gear drives the main arm up and down, followed by a servo that moves the forearm and wrist, allowing the arm to reach over the chassis and drop pixels in front or behind itself with ease. 2 more servos control fingers with "tendons" and "muscle" that allow it to grab pixels in tight spots and easily recenter pixels from a wider range. Thanks to the worm gear we can also just use a single c channel on the arm to hang flawlessly.
