3. A Surprising Fact or Statistic: Share something your audience may not know. Example: “Did you know that 8 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean every year?”

4. A Story: Tell a quick, interesting story related to your topic. Example: “When I was a child, I dreamed of exploring space. That’s why I’m talking about space exploration today.”

5. A Quote: Use a quote that relates to your topic. Example: “As Albert Einstein said, ‘Imagination is more important than knowledge.’”

How to Choose the Best Hook:

• Think about your audience: What will catch their attention?

• Match the hook to your topic: Make sure it connects directly to what you’ll talk about.

• Keep it short: Your hook should take 30 seconds or less.
