Studied biology, botany, and geology at the University of Wisconsin.

Worked in nature & sawmills, on farms, in a broom factory, in a carriage factory, and as a sheepherder.

Helped create several national parks, including Sequoia (1890), Mount Rainier (1899) and Grand Canyon (1908).

I believe visiting wild places helped us grow as people and was important for recharging mind and body.
