The local rulers began to argue and feud, which led to their split. Their downfall was that they were invaded. 
- After the Zhou dynasty fell, the Qin dynasty took over. The Qin dynasty lasted from 221-206 BCE. Their cruel treatment was not liked by the peasants, so they peasants rebelled. Shi Huangdi's son was not capable of taking over, so their dynasty fell.
- The Han dynasty took over after the Qin dynasty fell. It lasted from 202-220 BCE. Their goal was to unify China. They chose to use Confucianism instead of Legalism, which called for a better economy.
