The library here at UofSC produced a series on Second Wave feminists, focusing in particular on local public figures.

In this extraordinary 2019 interview, Drue recounts her early life, her years in the counterculture, what feminism meant to her, and numerous other personal and professional topics.

You can listen to the interview here: https://digital.library.sc.edu/exhibits/secondwave/interviews/drucilla-k-barker/

Drue served on my dissertation committee for six months. During that time, she was instrumental in helping me finalize my prospectus. She was always so kind, devoted, and insightful to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Our university community will feel her absence acutely for generations to come.

For my part, I deeply regret that our mentorship and friendship ended so tragically. I had so many questions, so many things to share with this incredible visionary and beautiful soul.

As I learn to cope with my grief, I’m extremely grateful to Andrea L’Hommedieu for asking some of the questions that I never got the chance to pose.
