This confirmed my understanding that what escalated the Second Indochina War was the major global powers as the resource highlighted that the major global powers were the amplifying and trigger factor, with the Communist parties, USSR and China providing North Vietnam with the means to engage in the war by defending themselves and the US kickstarting the full-fledged war by directly engaging in military intervention.

I used to think that what escalated the Second Indochina War was purely the US' involvement in it (and the USSR had nothing to do with the war), but now I think that it might be because of the big communist powers, Soviet and China, because they were the ones who fuelled the communist forces in vietnam by actively providing war aids to them.
