The battle of Gettysburg was the largest and most bloodiest battle fought in North America ever. Gettysburg was seen as a turning point of the War. This was seen as a turning point because the Confederates were forced to retreat and never fully recovered. The Confederacy had a great chance of victory here. They had came off of a great victory in Chancellorsville. So General Lee decided to go with a bold strategy. One of the reasons the South did not win was because General Lee underestimated the Unions ability to resupply their central lines. Another reason was the cannon strikes were inaccurate did not force union troops to move. This led to the Unions victory. This battle is well known because of the Gettysburg Address.

The Battle of Antietam was the bloodiest single day battle in Military history . It was ended in a draw and finally the CS retreated and gave the "victory" to the Union. This battle was the reason that caused President Abraham Lincoln in issuing his Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation on September 22, 1862. It was also a turning point due to Lincoln wanting to announce the Proclamation by the end of this battle. There were 3 phases of the battle of Antietam: the morning phase, the middle phase, and the afternoon phase. The morning phase took place in the cornfields with the group of Union soldiers also named the Iron Brigade attacked the Confederates. The middle phase was fought on the sunken road, this is where the battle became very bloody. The afternoon phase was when Burnside and his men charged across a bridge that would become known to history as "Burnside's Bridge."
The Confederacy's goal was to move North and get more supplies for their troops.

The battle of Fredericksburg I was a major set back for the Union troops. This battle hosted the largest group of soldiers to fight in the Civil War. The victory of this battle was one of the greatest victories for the CS. The CS had an advantage because the Union troops were not prepared to cross the Rappahannock River. The Union strategies were to surprise attack the CS. Even though the CS were surprised to find the Union troops hiding in the hills outside of Fredericksburg, the CS were still very prepared.

Chancellorsville was another extremely bloody battle. The Battle of Chancellorsville was perhaps one of the greatest Victories for Confederacy. The Union had the plan to go behind Lee's forces. Lee soon heard about this plan and it backfired on the Union. Lee had the plan to leave just more than 11,000 soldiers at Fredericksburg while taking the remainder of his army more than 40,000 men west to Chancellorsville. StoneWall Jackson was wounded in this battle by an accidental shot by his own man. This Victory led the Confederacy to invade the Union.
