Es interesante comparar estas dos ciudades ya que comparten algunas similitudes. Ambas ciudades fueron fundadas a partir
de las migraciones, en Tenochtitlan cuando cae el imperio tolteca y los habitantes se asientan en la ribera del lago
Texcoco y en Venecia los habitantes del Véneto fueron expulsados por los Lombardos y Ostrogodos y se refugian en estas 
tierras en la desembocadura del Rio Po. Ambas ciudades con sus estrategias y posibilidades crearon sus civilizaciones y 
sistemas.

Tanto en Venecia como en Tenochtitlan se encuentra un espacio público de gran escala, la plaza central, que funciona como
 el vacío de la ciudad y centro de diferentes actividades, en la Plaza de San Marcos se encuentran edificios de carácter 
religioso como la Basílica de San Marco y en la plaza central de Tenochtitlan se encuentra el Templo mayor.

Venecia se caracterizo por ser una ciudad mercantil y portuaria mediante el comercio marítimo;
también se centro en la construcción naval y el comercio de cereales, en cambio Tenochtitlan se
apoyo en la agricultura, con sus chinampas; también en la caza y la pesca.

A partir de la expansión europea y la llegada de los españoles a territorios aztecas, los habitantes tuvieron que
desplazarse del centro de la ciudad y perdieron su edificaciones. Por otro lado el descubrimiento de América
genero otras vías de comercio y el mar mediterráneo dejo de ser el centro de comercio en el mundo.
