First patented by James Hargreaves in 1770, the Spinning Wheel was created and then evolved into the Spinning Jenny. The Spinning Jenny was made to weave cotton, created in Lancashire. This invention was the first multi-spindle spinning machine that became successful. The machine features a creel with revolvings for tension control and roller driving spindles to reduce maintenance and improve accuracy. It also features sheaves to increase the mechanical advantage of the pulley system. As this was a machine that had generations, there has to be a harder way for this machine to work. At first, this machine was hard to operate and required a major amount of skill. Throughout the span of a few years, there were a mass amount of improvements which had led to the advancement in Jenny shops and the number of spindles on one machine.

The cotton gin’s purpose was to be used in the production of cotton by greatly speeding up the process of removing seeds from cotton fiber. Is a machine that quickly and easily separates cotton fibers from their seeds, enabling much greater productivity than manual cotton separation. The major feature of a combination of a wire screen and small wire hooks is to pull the cotton through, while brushes continuously removed the loose cotton lint to prevent jams. Who they are being sold to primary farmers. The gin improved the separation of the seeds and fibers but the cotton still needed to be picked by hand. The demand for cotton roughly doubled each decade following Whitney's invention. So cotton became a very profitable crop that also demanded a growing slave-labor force to harvest it.
