In this letter I am going to explain to you why Daoism will really help America. 

First of all, let me explain what Daoism is. It’s a natural force that connects everything with nature. There is a delicate balance between good and bad. There is something bad to every good thing, and something good to every bad thing. This belief teaches everyone that intervening with life’s natural forces will cause chaos and destruction, and everyone should just do what is required and not push past nature. 

This will really help America because in America, people strive for fame, wealth, and power. All of those things are intervening with the natural force and the balance. Americans are all equal, and there shouldn’t be any superiority within one person. The government and political systems of America are too competitive, and if everyone will stop worrying about living up to other people’s standards there would be a lot more unity in the U.S. If people understand the balance and accept their role in nature, everyone will be united and harmonial.

I know that you are having problems with people trying to spark violence and meddle with democracy, but I think Daoism can help. Daoism believes that calm is very important, and calm is certainly something that the US needs in a time when people are trying to incite senseless violence. Furthermore, Congress is trying to pass a Coronavirus relief bill, and if Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell were Daoists, they would know that opposites need each other to exist. Democracy is falling apart, but Daoism says that meddling, like some people are trying to do, is not wanted. I hope you consider Daoism as a solution to your problems.

No offense, but your soon-to-be country is in turmoil. As you come closer to the presidency, you need a solid plan- and fast. As a great Chinese philosopher and prince once said, “It is dangerous for a ruler to trust others. He who trusts others can be manipulated by others.” FYI, that great Chinese philosopher was me. And those wise words are legalism, the answer to all your problems. 

It’s hard being a ruler. Your empire will not stay in line. People revolt, and that can only lead to bad things. The answer is to keep them in line through harsh punishment. As all wise people believe, everyone is selfish and evil at heart. (Except, of course, for me). So, you must exile them, execute them, whatever it takes. These are the basic principles of Legalism, and you need them more than anyone else I know.

During my time, the Warring States Period was violent and problematic. During yours, COVID-19 has torn your country apart. Though these seem like totally different problems, they are related at the core: They are both caused by the selfish people in our nations. There is no excuse for what they have done, and after that, all they do is criticize our government. This needs to end. Legalism will ensure strict punishments for everything. Some say the punishment should fit the crime, I say, heck, if you always have harsh punishments, you won’t need to worry about the nature of the crime. Legalism is fast, easy, and always works (except for when my people turned down Legalism because it was too strict for them. But... we won’t discuss that now.) 

So take up Legalism to make your country orderly, and when people ask where you got the fantastic idea, make sure to tell them about that miracle worker Han Fei.

I am writing to tell you about the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombing you are planning and how it should relate to my philosophy, Daoism. According to my philosophy, America must have compassion because it clearly states that people need to live calmly and peacefully. Dropping bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki will result in a tragedy in which thousands of people die. Please have compassion for the precious life of humans. Also, I believe that harmony plays an essential role in our world. If we do not live in harmony, there will be no peace, and no peace means that there will be wars and conflicts worldwide. You must negotiate with Japan using words to keep the harmony of the world. Finally, one of America’s values, morality is similar to part of my philosophy in living life morally. They both want the welfare of humankind. The atomic bombing does not fit with the value of America and Daoism. 

Following my principles would lead America to a better path because America can avoid being criticized by the global society due to creating many deaths from the atomic bomb. Additionally, America can escape being tagged as “the first country to use atomic bombs.” Please reconsider bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Force is not the only answer.

With the current pandemic, I strongly believe you should consider taking up Legalism. Legalism is the ancient philosophy of having strict rules and harsh punishments. I know that your country may seem a bit out of order right now. If you make new laws centered around wearing masks and staying safe, I think you can reduce cases in the United States.

Legalism was first introduced during the Warring Period. After learning all about Confucianism and Daoism, Prince Hanfezi of the Han state, otherwise known as me,  thought that there needed to be more rules and punishments. In Legalism, it is believed that everyone is bad and they should be punished with very strict laws.

Legalism can help the US by restoring order to the society, and keeping everyone healthy. If you start to enforce large fines for not wearing masks, people will start to feel pressured to wear them. However, if you wish to keep your new nation as one, Legalism is the best way. Legalism will help you in your path to greatness and will serve as an example to your people. It combines threats and bribes, creating the perfect way for you to keep your citizens under control. Then, all of your people will realize that trying to fight it is helpless and will follow your lead. You must not be lenient; your people will see that as a weakness and a window of opportunity. You must be clear with your rewards and punishments. Have your laws be strict and clear, and everyone will follow your authority. It will give you a strong central government and keep your society organized. If you fear rebellion, have your punishments be an exile, and have your people reflect on their misdeeds.

Confucianism is a philosophical and religious tradition where the key to maintain a balanced society is through traditional social relationships. In Confucianism, there are Five Key Relationships. Ruler and subject, parent and child, husband and wife, elder and younger sibling, and friend and friend. To explain, ruler-subject is where the ruler cares for the people he governs and the people he rules should obey the ruler. Parent-child is where parents should love and care for their children and the children should respect and obey their parents. Older-younger sibling is where the older sibling takes care of their younger siblings and the younger ones should obey and respect their elders. Husband-wife is where they live in harmony and a wife should obey her husband. Friend-Friend is trusting each other and treating each other with equality. From this, we can see that the younger or the ones below, respects and obeys those with power. Those with power take care of the weaker. If they are equal in power, they should treat each other the same. The key to Confucianism is the relationship between people. This religious tradition will help you govern because Confucianism teaches people to obey, respect, follow, care, and honor their superiors and the ones below them. It established clear relationships between people in all aspects of their lives. So, if your citizens follow the rules of Confucianism, it will help your citizens to respect and obey you, while you give your thanks and care to them in return.

Daoism also follows Yin and Yang, which means that good and bad are interconnected. The way to achieve peace is to balance these concepts. This belief will help your people to see that to have good, you must also have bad, and to endure through bad means relief and goodness is coming. This will reduce the crazy state of your nation. Your people must comprehend that nothing in nature strives for fame, power, or knowledge, and once they start to practice this belief they will emulate it. Last, you must stay true to yourself, and not alter who you are to fulfill other’s standards. You must satisfy yourself, and your needs, and spread this message to your people.

I understand that the Way may be daunting, but a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

It has come to my attention that you have not been handling the situations about large world issues in a fair and trusted manner. I have seen that there have been numerous situations on BLM, COVID-19, and your actions towards immigration. Although you have these numerous issues that reflect upon society, I believe that you should look at the philosophies of Daosim. Daosim promotes self improvement, helping the society, and it teaches the importance in a peaceful way of living. These methods will help you make great decisions for the entire societies benefit and yours as well. As for BLM and immigration issues, you should use the skill of helping society because these issues being resolved could bring joy and delight to people of all colors. Additionally, self improvement would be beneficial in situations similar to this. You should consider to how people come to United States and escape from violence, but you limit those people who were in danger. 

Families have to get separated from whether their mom or dad and it is a heartbreaking event. Think about it, when children are locked away in overcrowded detention centers, when you use family separation as a weapon against desperate mothers, fathers, and children seeking safety and a better life. Some children even die while in custody due to lack of adequate care. So, please consider the method to help families instead of destroying them because it will improve society. On the other hand, situations like the corona virus should be held by the factor of self improvement in your hands. You have to promote masks instead of discouraging to wearing them and do so much more to improve your actions that approach this virus. I also feel that Yin Yang would help you. This is because Yin Yang is the balance between two forces and they rely on each other for harmony. This would give you an opportune for you and Joe Biden to work together in peace to bring harmony. Daoism will help you with and the society with peace. So, believe in Daosim!

Daoism is a philosophy that teaches people that they can achieve peace and happiness by becoming one with the Dao, or the Way. The United States is the strongest country in the world. Americans shouldn’t seek fame and wealth, as it is harmful and unnatural for a person. People will achieve harmony through Daoism, and it would not only help the United States, but it would also help the whole world unite by putting aside the differences within people.
