In 2012, Whitney joined the development team for the dating app Tinder, before it was launched. She was responsible for creating the well known name and logo and other parts of the development. Whitney then used her knowledge and experiences with Tinder to create her own dating app Bumble, after leaving Tinder due to a sexual assault case.

In 2014, the dating app Bumble was originally founded and was planning on going public in the near future. Because the company was now completely founded, an operating team ran by the creator herself, was needed in order to run the company.

In 2017, 4 years before Bumble fully goes public, Bumble built their main headquarters located in Austin Texas where the business originated. The use of the headquarters gives the operating team and higher up employees a better space to work and run the business.

In 2021, after over 7 years of development, Bumble finally decides to go fully public. During Bumbles Initial Public Offering, Bumble ended up selling over 50 Million shares of their stock for the prices of $38-$43 receiving $2.2 Billion dollars.

Due to the fact that Whitney had to leave Tinder even after Co Founding it, she was upset that she was going to lose part of her own idea and the app itself. So she decided she wanted to start something of her own, but with a kind of uniqueness that people will remember it for, where Women make the first move.

Bumble didn’t have a stable source of income for a while, so Whitney decided to implement in-app subscriptions for the users, so they could have access to more features and premium versions of the app. There are 3 different versions, all different prices and different features.

In the beginning of 2024, Whitney stepped down as CEO and took a break from Bumble due to personal reasons. But later that year in August, she stepped up and is now the Executive Chair of Bumble meaning she leads the board of directors and continues to make the decisions for the company.
