I chose to include a snow globe in the care package for Angus. When he visited his dad he took a snow globe with him. He seemed very happy as if it brought back nostalgia when his dad was healthy and had a happy family. I feel that this snow globe is the only thing that really gives Angus a taste of his paste life as he griefs the mental loss of his father. As well as the loss of a caring and loving family since his mother ditched him for Christmas.

I chose to include this teddy bear that has been injured. I feel that this teddy bear is an accurate representation of Angus. He has been through so much damaging stuff like his father becoming sick. His mom ditching him for Christmas to go on a honey moon with her new husband. However, he still continued to thrive and do good in school. I feel that staying at the school with his teacher and Mary was what really helped to heal him. He started to find a sense of family within them and even though he had been damaged, he was still able to persevere and even become a better version of himself at the end of break.

I chose to include a picture of a family. This whole movie, until the end, Angus was lacking a family. Someone that he could turn to when things got hard in school or when he just need someone to talk to. Losing his father to a sickness and losing his relationship with his mother really hurt him. He was lacking the love from his parents and a home to go to during Christmas break. While he was in the school however, he kinda grew a new family-like relationship with his teacher and Mary. He overcame most of the sadness that set him back and realized that the people he was stuck with were actually cool people and they created a bond with them.

I chose to include this empty journal. This empty journal represents how Angus is a very lonely person. He doesn't have much going on in his life and when he does he usually tends to bottle up his emotions. He doesn't like to release them. Until he had to spend all winter break with his teacher in which he became much more open to telling him about some stuff in his family. A major one being that his dad was in fact not dead but was sick. He became more open and eventually became less lonely because of this. This journal represents how lonely he was but now has an opportunity to release the emotions he once kept inside.

I chose to include this flower seed packet. Angus experienced so many downs during this movie. The main one being that he had to stay at the school during winter break. This was something new to Angus not only having to stay at school during break but be ditched/disappointed by his mom. Staying at school however, was really a new beginning for Angus in his coming of age and becoming a better person overall. With these seeds, planting one would signify a new beginning of life just like how Angus experienced new beginnings in his life.
