The impact of ongoing developments in technology on the hotel industry.

Context 

 Nowadays technology plays a major role in our lives. Almost everywhere you go or with anything you do, technology is involved. Therefore I would like to do research on the developments in technology in the hotel industry. Not only in the hotels itself with the usage of systems or the old fashioned key vs. the new ways of checking in. I would also like to research the impact of booking your hotel or holiday via the old travel agencies or via websites nowadays. The experience from the guest and the experiences from the hotels. The preference for marketing via old fashioned leaflets and posters or via the internet. Besides that also see if there is a certain pattern or solution for hotels for what they could best do concerning technology, to increase their occupancy rate. therefore I would like to be writing an advisory report. 

The main research question

 Did the introduction of various developments in technology have impact on the hotel industry ?

Sub – research questions

-          Did the usage of social media affect the hotel industry ?

-          Is there a difference in preference in leisure or business guests ?

-          Preference in self-check in ?

-          How do employees experience it ?

-          Time frame of 10/20 years ?

-          Introduce robots yes/no ?

The approach for this research will probably be a mix of qualitative research and quantitative research because I would like to conduct interviews with hotel managers but also hand out surveys to customers to see their opinion on different options.  Besides that there is of course a lot of literature that has to be read. Everything that can be linked to the introduction of technology in the hotel industry.
