Bismillah. Religiosity is a function of the outward practice of Islam through the rituals of worship while spirituality is a function of one’s inner state and transforms the outer acts through a heightened consciousness of the underlying wisdom behind these actions in a way that affects one’s spiritual heart (Qalb) and brings us closer to Allah SWT. Spirituality is also underpinned by a belief in the unseen aspects of our deen -the books before our time, the angels, the messengers, predestination etc.

There’s a reason Allah talks a lot about plants growing in the Quran. The rain is guidance that seeps into the earth which was dead and then a seedling pierces through, but it keeps growing. When it reaches its prime, we can’t help but marvel at how beautiful it is. Allah describes these grown plants as بهيج ; pleasant, beautiful to look at.

A person is supposed to grow in his Deen; Islam, Iman, Ihsaan. As a person grows, he becomes more pleasing to Allah and people, and everything else around him.
