         <description><![CDATA[<div>Chapter 6 of HPLII talks about removing social identity characteristics in the academic settings. When students who are typically stereotyped, are place safe conditions they perform best in tests. I would like to now more about how this looks in the classroom setting primarily in elementary. In this graph it appears that stereotyped students under safe conditions perform higher than non stereotyped students in safe conditions. What practices work best to get to this level of performance. How much does motivation play a role in this, and what other theories or ideas support this.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Chapter 3 from How Learning Works talked introduced the idea of educators using their assumptions of how they learn to teach their students. The assumptions of how they learn gave them false conclusions and assumptions of their students. In this scenario it is assumed that all people learn the same way. One of the takeaways I had from this introduction was to consider all learners when creating lessons, and allowing a variety of different ways to have students show proficiency.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>One idea found on chapter 6 from HPLII, talks about teachers structuring learning opportunities that incorporate a variety of diverse perspectives to engage students more effectively. As a teacher who works in a school with a diverse population, I strive to be as inclusive as I can be for all our students. Creating opportunities for students to share their perspectives is important, but so is providing the resources for teacher to be able to teach the diverse content. I find this to be harder because the tools are not provided for teachers. This ideas stays are the forefront of my professional setting, and every day I strive to be more inclusive for my students.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

In a classroom, we typically have a diverse population of students who come with various needs. How can we provide the same amount of support to help them reach their motivation and find strategies when we have students who are at opposite ends of the spectrum?&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The common research of these two readings was the focus on motivation. Both authors touched based on how motivation plays a big roles in students learning.&nbsp;There are different factors that influence students motivation. Some of the factors covered in these chapters were goals, values, engagement, and social/cultural factors. All of these factors play a major impact on a students performance, effort and motivation on their learning. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Another common theme in these readings was that both of them had a focus on students values. Chapter 3 from HLW talked about how goals have subjective value. The type of activity that is presented to students has different values. Students are more likely to be motivated by an activity that is more valuable, and they might perform their best when they are presented with multiple choices of things they like. Chapter 6 from HPLII talked about how we can connect culture to motivation. Providing students with content they value will increase their motivation.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The self efficacy theory is reviewed in both of these chapters. In chapter 6 HPLII, learning develops from a variety of sources; one of them is being able to set appropriate goals. Being able to provide students with their progress allows them to view their progress and set their own goals which is a form of self efficacy. Chapter 3 from HLW talks about how efficacy can influence how a goals is accomplished. Motivation plays an important role in the way in which students can approach and set their goals .</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>An idea that was shared on Chapter 3 from HLW was on expectancies. This is an area of growth for me, but one I have been trying to take on as a teacher. The area of finding the appropriate level of challenge for students is a challenging one. Creating assignments that are attainable but yet challenging for students who need them can sometimes be challenging for me. But when I have been able to provide them to my students I have seen a sense of pride and growth in their motivation. The idea of setting attainable but challenging&nbsp; goals will be one that I continue to practice and improve in my classroom setting.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
