Eligibility and application requirements

• Applicants must be full-time PhD students enrolled at a degree-granting university.

• Applications must be sent from an institutional email address. Applications from private email accounts, such as Gmail, will not be considered.

• The applicant’s advisor must be copied in the application email, using their institutional email address.

• The application email must include, at minimum:

  • a) the applicant’s university and department;

  • b) the name of the applicant’s advisor.

Gothenburg Landvetter Airport (GOT) is the main international airport, located about 25 minutes from the city center. It offers direct flights from major European hubs such as Frankfurt, Amsterdam, London, Paris, and Copenhagen.

• Airport to City Center: The Flygbussarna airport coach runs every 15–30 minutes and takes approximately 25–30 minutes to Gothenburg Central Station (“Nils Ericson Terminal”). Tickets can be bought online or at machines in the terminal. Search for “Göteborg C” as the end stop.

• Taxi: Fixed-price taxis to the city center cost around 500–600 SEK (companies like Taxi Göteborg or Sverigetaxi). Uber and Bolt ride-hailing services are also available at lower rates.

BY TRAIN:

Gothenburg is well-connected by train, particularly within Sweden and to neighboring countries. All trains arrive at Gothenburg Central Station, which is a key public transport hub.
