Jack loves art but his brother plays and his dad coaches baseball. Both of them wanted Jack to be a baseball player too but little did they know, he loves to draw. As he was in class, he was trying to think who would steal Sasha's backpack because nobody would want to steal from her. A thing to know about Sasha, she is rich, spoiled, and a bully. She threatens kids so she can get what she wants. So Jack was thinking really hard about who would steal from her, touch her belongings, and even mess with her. He was so distracted that he wasn't focusing on his group project with his friends.

QUOTE #1:

"With mental illness no one wants to admit they aren't perfect, even though none of us are. And if you can't admit you need help, like Jack's brother did, then you don't get better."

This quote was said my a girl named, Maddie. She is a dancer and in 6 or 7th grade. The reason why this is important is because its true that with mental illness no one wants to admit their perfect. Especially that we are all aren't, the only one that is PERFECT is the one above! God is the only perfect man and God there will ever live. People with mental illness need help but they don't ask for it because they want to act "perfect and brave" even though no one is like that. So this book is telling us to encourage them to seek for help while being patient and nonjudgmental. God wants us to help others even without them looking. It takes courage to ask for help because we are afraid on what other people might say and we always think in our brains that they might judge us. That is why we are here on Earth, to help and care for others and especially if you need help, turn to God and rely on him with our problems.

"I'm glad we could help." "Emma shouldn't feel ashamed about having a learning disability. Tons of people have them." "Emma can ask him about it if she wants. His doctor once said part of why he coaches so well is that he sees things other people dont' - not better or worse, just differently."

All these quotes go together because I thought that it reminded me of being there TOGETHER. All these quotes are showing that the characters from the story are helping each other out and caring for a girl that has a learning disability named, Emma. The first quote was saying that they solved the case and Sasha did not get her spot back in the Gala because Sasha confessed about everything. This all happened because of Maddie, Jack, Nora, and Henry! If they didn't become detectives, then Louis, Emma's brother, would've been expelled but instead he got a in-school suspension for breaking into Sasha's locker and taking her bag.

The second quote is absolutely facts. No one should ever be afraid to be themselves! God made us and knew that we were perfect in our OWN ways. This story was known as anti-bulling and bullying because Sasha kept sending them blackmails and bullying people for no reason or its just how they look. Everyone is special just the way we are and we should embrace it.

Dear Benedis-Grab,

Thank you for writing this book with all your strength. I loved the new lesson that I learned at the end from the book telling us that it is hard to ask for help and if we don't ask for help sooner, then we won't get any better at something in life. When I was 11-12 years old, it was hard for me to ask for help to my family members because I was afraid on what they will say back to me or what they will think of me. I'm so grateful to you that I get to learn something new over the quote that gives us a life lesson. The most favorite book that I read that you wrote was "I know your Secret" it was almost like "I know your Lying" but they were both different plots. I can't imagine how long it took for you to write this and how much effort you put it in. I am still trying to read more of your books that you wrote because I love your plots that you do. May God bless you and your family and may he continue to watch over you.Thank you so much for what you have done and letting me read your book!

                      Sincerely,

                      Valisa Mariner

I would rate this book, "I Know your Lying" a 3/5 stars. The reason why I chose 3 stars is because I liked the plot but I didn't like how their secrets that they kept weren't deep. Meaning, Jack wanted to be an artist but didn't want to tell his dad and brother because their both athletic. Though, I kind of understand why he didn't tell them, He was afraid on what they would say and do to him if he would to tell them that he didn't want to be a baseball player but an artist. If I were in his shoes, I would do the same because I didn't want to be so different from my family, I would want to have the same abilities and be on the same page as them. I also didn't like how it started off slow but there were times where there would be some interesting things happening but then would end up going slow. However, it was a good book.

THEMES:

Themes that I have observed by reading this book was, "What happens when bullying goes far." or "Power of being Honest" or "Anti-bullying" or "Truth" or "Honesty" or "Integrity" or "Problem Solving" or "Middle School" or "Bullies" or "Help each other" or "Work together" or "Friendship".

These are all the theme that I have found in the book! The first quote meant that Sasha kept bullying Emma because she has a learning disability. As I was reading, I was pretty mad about Sasha getting overboard for bullying and especially with a girl who has a learning disability. At that point, I just wanted to jump in the book and stand up for Emma. The real thing is that I can't even stand up for anyone in real life because of what other people would say about or think about me.

The second one is power of being honest. As the four kids became detectives and tried to solve the case of the "thief" little did they know that they grew closer and closer as they hung out more. They started to understand each other's feelings and secrets that they wanted to stop Sasha for good because of what she has done to everyone. Also meaning that they slowly started to trust each other and at the end, they all became best friends.

Of course Anti-bullying was basically the main one. The four kids were against bullying and that's why they were trying to stop Sasha. In order to stop her, they have to have evidence and prove that she has done everything so she can confess and to prove people that they aren't the "thieves".

Problem Solving is the main one. It's when you have to really solve a case but your actually an innocent person who did nothing wrong but was accused of something that you did not do. In order for you to prove them wrong, you have to but your detective caps on, turn on your brains, and start to SOLVE cases.

1) The author believes that we should stop bullying each other but to love one another.

2) The author believes that we should ask for help more then not ask for help because if we don't, we won't ever get better.

3) The author believes that whenever there is a bullying going on, we should stop and help each other out because if we don't they will go further and we will regret that we didn't stop the bully.

We should never bully each other because God took time on us to create us and we're just going to ruin his designs like that? Not only that but what is the point of bullying? Get attention? Be popular? A bet? No, Bullying should never happen especially to anyone who has a certain illness, disease, or disability! We should all just be buddies and not bullies because it is wrong. When you bully someone, sometimes you go over and you don't know because you don't pay attention or don't even care. We should all enjoy life with one another, not going around and you find a target and bully therm. God made us to be PEACEFULL to one another and kind, loving, and gentle.

In life, the most thing that we have issues on are Trust. We all have that one person who we trusted the most but ended up backstabbing us and talked behind our backs. So we tell ourselves that "I'm not trusting anyone anymore." We shouldn't think that. If you can't trust any human beings, then trust God! Trusting each other can help us work together more effectively at home, work, or elsewhere. If you trust in God, it would help you feel secure and confident in their interactions with each other. Trust the people who love you the most, consistent, compassionate, etc. God is the most trustworthy person that you will ever meet. So rely and believe in the Lord.
