I haven't worked with the plattform before. The collections are a bit confusing to me. Search results are not satisfactory (e.g. Salvador Dalí or René Magritte) and the quality of the pictures is poor - nothing I would recommend at school - sorry.

I have just had a look at the Europeana website. It is excellent, full of resources and links. I have found some interesting information about the different European sports and about ancient sports. My students can be asked to search for some information about the origin of British and American sports such as cricket and rugby. Sport is an important part of a country's cultural heritage, so it is worth studying it. In my English classes it would be a great idea to make my students read articles about the origins of British and American sports.

I have the chance to participate in the Europeana DSI-3 // Europeana Education User Group community, so I can explore and experiment contents, learning scenario and get to know more in depth this tool which is really useful both for my personal and professional activity.
Teaching Spanish, I also find it extremely useful the fact that Europeana is available in other languages too.

Several factors make Europeana an ideal tool for higher education. First of all, there is the quality: the cultural heritage objects described in Europeana come directly from the source and have been digitized to high standards. Second, an ever growing part of it is available for public reuse, and openly licensed. Thirdly, and this might be of growing interest in Education, it shows Europe to its full diversity, in contrast to many current educational resources such as schoolbooks. Last, Europeana is transforming from a portal into a platform for reuse, educational as well as commercial. It wants to offer higher quality primary source material in a way that it can be integrated in educational apps, but also in an interactive way in online learning such as MOOCs.

I came across Europeana while I was looking for PD tools and I was struck by the title of this MOOC. I had a look at the website and I immediately realized the potential such an enormous archive could actually have on my everyday activity as a language teacher. My attention has quite obviously been captured by the visual material and the possibility to envisage virtual tours of the European countries through artistic and historical material contained in the archive. Yes, I had a look at the Europeana website. I immediately thought that it was a huge platform with a lot of interesting materials (written texts, audio-files, images, drawings, etc..) which can be used in order to carry out research in many different fields. From my point of view, one important aspect is represented by the reliability of all the sources that are included in this platoform. Sometimes, young students complete their research using sources and materials that are not relevant or that are not acceptable, for this reason, I think, Europeana website might represent a good starting point for them!
As I have already said, working in a Primary School, I had the opportunity to develop a project called “Citizenship and Constitution”, mainly addressed to children (of different ages and nationalities) who do not attend courses of Catholic Religion and I really believe that Europeana website might be useful to integrate and to enrich the materials I usually prepare for my children, especially considering the vast archive of images I have just discovered in this platform.
From my perspective, the section of the website related to Migration is the most interesting and I really want to follow its development.

This is a marvellous library but it will take time to investigate the material, to learn how to search among all pictures and videos. I have been familiar with the Europeana website for several years but in recent times I have been exploring the potential of its collections. Europeana is not limited to adding documents to a repository but it organizes the information and gives it consistency to facilitate access and use to different resources. I think it is an extraordinary initiative and an invaluable contribution to the preservation of European cultural heritage and to the development of European citizenship awareness.
In educational terms, I see enormous potential in the Europeana collections. I recently had a first experience of using Europeana with my students in class and it was a very positive learning activity.

It seems to me that Europeana can be an interesting tool in Secundary Education, but in my case, I am teaching small chlldren on the first levels of Primary, I feel that the visit and use the platform is a bit difficult. However, we can try Europeana with them to wath several videos about art in Europe because they are available in Spanish language. Finally they would play with the app with games organized for Primary education´s pupils.

I met Europeana, thanks to the contributions and enthusiasm of Rafael, a professor who is also at the Center where I work and who participates in a very regular way in these European Educational activities. He presented it to us and in fact I have already done some activity. I have to say, that at first I was a bit reluctant, because I did not know about these activities.
Once I started to initiate myself in these processes, I have to confess, that this educational page has surprised me very pleasantly and in fact it has already helped me to implement with many students, a very interesting activity. I was informed about Europeana during a PDW («Building the future of Europe through Cultural Heritage») in Thessaloniki, Greece. I think it is an excellent platform and with many resources. I had the opportunity to contact the Europeana project page when implementing a learning scenario. As it said in the evaluation of this implementation, it was not easy to achieve all the objectives since it needed more time to get to know the platform better, mainly due to the immensity of available materials. However, from the contact I had I can say that it is a plus for our practice. Europeana seems to have a lot to offer both to students and teachers: as an English teacher I believe that literally anything can potentially be used successfully in an English class. You can almost get lost exploring the Europeana platform... This platform will be extremely useful for me in my Art History lessons, because you can take your students on a gallery tour without leaving the classroom! You can show your students, for example, sculptures in 3D or engage them into interesting games (try giving them a cubist painting broken up into pieces and tell them to put them back together). Europeana is very useful in other fields too - for example, I like to use artworks when I teach Philosophy, because you can communicate better a philosophical concept to your students when you have an image to support it, and moreover, complement it.

I had a look at the Europeana website (I knew it already, I discovered it in last October). My first impression is that there are some hints but it could be useful while planning lessons, I teach English and I can find resources for varied activities on history (WW1, migration), culture and/or traditions (music, art, fashion).As an example, I could use the pictures of famous people who migrated from their countries to make a webquest to discover why they left their country, what they had to do to integrate in the new country, what they did and how they struggled in the new country to survive and succeed, and then I would ask my pupils to go and interview some migrants in their school or community to know their story and make a comparison. I would make them reflect also on the advantages and disadvantages of migration organizing a debate.

I think there is a great amount of info and it can be very useful. May be too much...yo would need a lot of time to find things because you are supposed to have a look at things you are interested in For example i am interested in folk songs so I had a look at it....a very old recording appeared, not very interesting for the students. May be in photographs I found more interesting things, the problem is to find the time for searching.

I took a look at the Europeana website. My first impression is that it is very rich in contents of various qualities. Due to the richness of the contents it is not easy to orientate among the contents, the sorting and cataloging should be improved. Surely some contents can be useful in the lessons. The App section interests me a lot, but it seems to me that generally the apps are not really accessible, there are only the descriptive sheets of the apps.

I think that the Europeana Education is an really great online space full of useful and trustfull informations and materials that can make some teaching themes more interesting for pupils. My first impression when visiting the Europeana website is good. I was surprised by its easy use, remarkable content organization and easy access to materials. Many them are useful for my project. I spend many hours searching for content mainly on paper. I support my inspiration with the help of images and music that I normally find in the library. However, Europeana allows me to discover many of the contents in different formats without having to move from my place of work. It is a very interesting website.
