The French would come to try to colonize Vietnam, in which Ho would fight back for Vietnam's independence. A quote to support this is, "Ho told French negotiators, 'If we must fight, we will fight. WE will lose 10 men for every one you lose, but in the end it is you will tire.'" This shows that Ho would fight the French for their independence. It was for independence as in paragraph one it states, "determined to regain control of the colony." However, it wouldn't happen because the U.S. wanted to stop Communism from spreading as Ho was pro-Communist. This is because it says that Ho would want to "appeal" to the U.S. for help. So, to get the help Ho would need to desperately try to get help from the strong U.S. However, the U.S. was there to stop Communism from spreading as they wanted to "contain" it from spreading, and Ho was communist (they would be against him).
