Being Russian Acquisition teacher in Russia, it's easy for me to encourage international-mindedness in my students. in Y5 today one students noticed that they all were from different countries. In the lessons I encourage students to speak about their countries, compare not only languages but also cultures. In Y6 we have UOI "Communities" when every child chooses a country not necessarily of their own, makes a research and present everything that they learned about it.

I think when it comes to the whole school encouragement assemblies work very well. There can be different country themed assembles when students present to other students about their countries, make quizzes to check everyone's knowledge, and even might bring traditional food cooked at home.

If we want the changes to be long-lasting, whole community should work together as a team on it. All teachers and leadership of the school should collaborate together and plan both 'in homeroom" and "whole community" activities. Also, the events should be planned throughout the academic year so everyone is involved and has his/her part to take.

From the students' feedback and behaviour I suppose. If they are becoming more open-minded in their everyday school life.
