All of this art and performance was combined with lots of fun free extra curricular activities such as a jam night, a day festival and other events. The whole experience was highly social, I made lots of new friends from all over the world but many from Barcelona itself, taking me under their wing and making me feel like a local! The only thing I would warn people for next year is that it's a very intense course with long hours and can be quite tiring physically and socially, so just to bear that in mind!! "

That was probably the most valuable part for me, because everyone brought a different way of thinking and making work. Our team collaborated really well, and I learned a lot from that.

One thing I’ve been thinking about is the two-week format. I’m not sure whether making it longer would actually improve the experience, but I did feel that once our group had really found a good rhythm together, the making process became quite intense and rushed. It made me wonder whether there could be a different balance between developing ideas and producing the final work.

It’s shock to me that such an AI-hybrid experimental film was included in a queer festival.
NOW, let us address the use of AI in this work.

1. The shots from the film involves heavily AI generated materials, with concepts envisioned and visuals designed by the filmmaker, and then later realized with prompts with the commercial license with KREA.AI. Seedance, Kling were the two most used models.

2. The intentions behind this was A - To hide the identity of the contributors so that their stories can be told safely. B - To explore a visual language adapting elements of mannequins and mazes to allegorise trans+ circumstances using AI, C - To explore AI’s role in film / experimental works / documentary production.

3. The film successfully hides the identity, represented minorities’s voices and explored the alternative visual language, however, these justifications do not resolve the broader ethical problems with the use of AI, given the harms generative AI & large AI models has to economic inequality, repetition of biases, and the environment.

4. Despite the commitment to minority storytelling and visual experimentation, this method of production no longer represents the filmmakers’ current position and attitude towards generative AI in creative works.
