Her father was Henry VIII, king of england (1509-1547) 

She was the daughter of Enrique VIII and Anne Boleyn.

After she was declared illegitimate and obligated to live away from the court, Elizabeth joined the household of the last wife of Henry VIII and she was again considered in line for the throne of England. She was third in line behind her half-sister Mary Tudor and her half-brother Edward Tudor.

She was 13 years old when her father died and her half-brother became king. Her half-brother died and Mary became Queen(1553-1558), during her reign Elizabeth was imprisoned for being accused of taking part in a failed rebellion against Queen Mary. Elizabeth succeeded to the throne on her half-sister's death in November 1558. 

She was accused of being involved in plots against Mary Tudor.

One of them was Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots because she was a potential successor of Elizabeth, so she was a risk for her. Finally, she was tried and found guilty of assasination plot to the queen and executed in 1587.

Spain and England were rivals. Phillip II was a potential invader and they went into a war where England had the victory.

In 1580 Francis Drake became the first Englishman to circumnavigate the globe. In 1585 Sir Walter Raleigh set up a colony of about 100 men on the east coast of North America, which he named Virginia after Elizabeth I, ‘the Virgin Queen’.
