The period saw major technological advances, some of the most important being:<br>- The adoption of gunpowder&nbsp;<br>- The invention of vertical windmills&nbsp;<br>- Mechanical clocks<br>- The development of watermills.<br><br>Roman and early medieval scientific texts were read and studied, contributing to the understanding of nature as a coherent system functioning under divinely established laws that could be comprehended in the light of reason.</div><div><br>Scientific study further developed within the emerging medieval universities, where these texts were studied and elaborated, leading to new insights into the phenomena of the universe</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Industrial Revolution, which began on 1760, was the transition to new manufacturing processes in Europe and the United States. This also introduced capitalism, the economic system that is currently used, to the US. These new processes consisted of the creation of big factories with workers that had a specific and monotone function, this also led to dissatisfaction amongst the workers.&nbsp;<br><br>The Gilded Age is a term coined by American writer Mark Twain during the 1920s. It refers to a period of time during the Industrial Revolution in the United States that ranges from 1870 to the early 1900s. This period was characterized by heavy inequalities, corruption, and monopolies of steel, railroads, and oil owned by characters such as Cornelius Vanderbilt, Andrew Carnegie, and John D. Rockefeller.&nbsp;<br><br>Inventions such as the telegraph, the photograph, dynamite, the typewriter, amongst many others that changed the world were developed during the Industrial Revolution</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>On December 17, 1903 The Wright Brothers invented the first succesful airplane. Eleven years later on January 3rd, 1914 the first commercial airplane was flown. Many technological advancements were developed for the wars, some of them being the nuclear bomb, the radar, and surprisingly penicillin.<br>&nbsp;Although it was invented in the 1800s, the car was mainly&nbsp; popularized in the west during the economic boom that was World War 2.&nbsp;<br><br>During his time at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), from 1989 to 1990, British computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee invented what we know as the "World Wide Web"</div>]]></description>
