The image I chose to represent this is by a muslim girl wearing Dupatta, with a quote saying "judge me by whats in my head no whats on my head!". Teachers need to be able to understand that what is the "norm" for them may not be the norm for their students. Not judging someone by what we see at first glance, will truly impact the way the students. If teachers give students a chance to express who they are and how they feel learning in the classroom will have benefits. Understanding cultural diversity means understanding we are all different, weather you can see the differences in clothing or if its a difference in how we communicate and act. The picture below has a bird left behind, the bird has the same capability as the rest but is underneath the remaining birds. With the quote, I just think about leaving a child behind, matters being worth, she left a child who loved the subject, behind. The reason i chose this image is when i read the quote, all i pictured was the teacher literally turning off the child's desire to learn/participate. Although the teacher is reading, which is great and is admirable for expanding his/ her knowledge, he/her is also blocking the view of the students. even though she/he is "being a good teacher" she/he is also shutting them out. What they understand and comprehend is not important in this situation.
