The very short Langston Hughes poem “Dream” speaks about we should on to dreams. Langston Hughes  wrote a poem with 2 stanzas and a total of 6 lines talking about how  holding on to dreams and not quitting/  overcoming them. This really emphasises how he used his poems to uplift African Americans from that time, and even now, to not give up.

Then he writes about how African Americans are equal with white people, and soon people will acknowledge them. This shows how Langston hughes is waiting for his American dream and as an African American reader during that time this would have motivated you too just wait because soon enough you would get your respect.

In as I grew older the character had a dream but there was an obstacle,  a wall, and it seemed that this wall was easy to by pass but as the character got older he realized it’s way harder to reach the dream. Well, the character in the dream represented African Americans and the wall represented rracial discrimination, which there was plenty of at that time. This poem uplifts African Americans that they can break this  wall, because he implies that there is nothing that can stop a person from getting things he or she badly wants.
