Jefferson's tone is very accusatory, especially when speaking of the king. Throughout the entire piece Jefferson's tone is sincere. He puts honest passion into his words, declaring independence, not asking for it.
-abbi, Juliana, Maggie

T.J's tone is a complicated one. First of all, he is very straight and to the point (I forget the word for that). He does not want anything to be misinterpreted, by either the colonists or the British, therefore he nitpicks and records every little detail, especially when it comes to the faults of the king (in this part the tone may be seen as from an individual who has been pushed to far and is now will not stop until his point is made.) As stated by Jim, Ethan, and Kieran, his tone also leads to a view of indignation against the British. Like, seriously, we left to get away from you and you follow us here to tax us. Get a life! The piece as a whole is a tone of oneness - the thirteen colonies were in it together, they were a group out for one purpose - to gain freedom from the British. It also has the necessary tone of formality needed for any type of formal document, while at the same time having a tone that could be understood by the other colonists.

Cassandra Bruckner
Thomas Jefferson's Declaration is a true mix of Pathos and Logos to explain the logic behind what colonists were thinking, but didn't know how to explain on their own. It is a very alluring speech of persuasion and rebelling. It gives a voice to those who don't have one. Jefferson is forthright in his declaration and this is seen by his use of words such as entitle, declare, undeniable, etc.
