Adjective endings

I did a test on adjecive endings in order to practice the nominative and akkusative case. It took a several attempts to get it all right and I learned that in order to check if an adjective has an irregular declension then go to the wiktionary of that word and then check under declension.

http://www.schubert-verlag.de/aufgaben/xg/xg05_15.htm

https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/saftig#German

Recap of words and memorising

Given the holidays, I wasn't using German as much and therefore decided to memorise words and test my memory using the website Memrise. It was very easy to remember the words as they were at a beginners level and I have used those particular words often. The words were: es geht, wir, dir, es and gehen. It was nice to remember them from previous experience instead of having to memorise them from scratch.

https://www.memrise.com/course/1098512/german-1/garden/learn/

Past participles revision

I went through the past participles of some of the words given on quizlet. Found it very hard to memorise the irregular verbs which actually then reduced the amount of regular verbs I correctly memorised. I went through the set over and over again until I memorised them all correctly. I believe with a revision session in a few weeks time, I should be able to memorise them long term. The words below are the ones I struggled with the most:
nehmen genommen
machen gemacht
rauchen geraucht
arbeiten gearbeitet
https://quizlet.com/197286558/flashcards

Past Participle II

Since the past particles are so difficult to memorise given their irregularity, I decided to do another quizlet activity to memorise and understand them a bit further. This time I used Übung: Past Participle (all form the perfect with "haben") which has 20 terms. I did the flash cards, the test, learn, match, spell and gravity. I got 100% on the test. There are some words I still struggle to remember and I think with more regular use, they'll be easier to remember.

https://quizlet.com/195726001/ubung-past-participle-all-form-the-perfect-with-haben-flash-cards/

Declension of Pronouns

I wanted to go over my cases as I still struggle to identify which case is which and what we are looking for (or what questions we ask) when we see a sentence to know which pronoun is in which case. So I decided to look at the link below to understand this a bit better. The website has a page for each case and explains a bit about what we should look for in a sentence to know which case to use. I am still a little confused when it comes to detecting the difference between accusative and dative but I think this link has helped me understand it a bit more. https://deutsch.lingolia.com/en/grammar/pronouns/declension

I wanted to revise the word order and sentence structure when it came to using sub-junctions. So I looked at the 'Sentences with Conjunctions' section of the website in the link at the bottom. It was surprising to me that there are a lot more words that change the sentence structure than we have been taught which was daunting but also a relief as I think my understanding has improved a bit since looking at this page. I did the conjunctions - mixed exercise (though not very well) to improve my understanding. There were words I've not seen before on that test which was why I found it so difficult.

https://deutsch.lingolia.com/en/grammar/sentence-structure/dependent-clauses/conjunctions

Declension/Inflection of Adjectives

I wanted to revise my adjectives as the endings change for attributive adjectives and this I found not too hard to comprehend but hard to put in practice. One of my main struggles with this topic is the retention of the gender of each noun in my memory. Given this section of grammar depends entirely on remembering the gender and knowing the case of the word, it is very challenging. I also learned the exceptions to the rule with words ending with e, el, etc.

https://deutsch.lingolia.com/en/grammar/adjectives/declension

Speaking practice

I practiced my speaking skills by learning and pronouncing words on quizlet and by speaking to a friend who is fluent. I found it difficult to construct sentences mainly because I have forget the gender of words very easily and because I can't remember the case tables very well. I was quite good at giving directions but I think that was because its pretty straight forward. I want to work on learning the cases mostly as it'll help with the flow of the conversation a bit more.
