2. teacher :did you gave students time to think about how to express their ideas so that others could understand them; perhaps by giving a short time for discussion in pairs or small groups, or you repeated what they said and asked ‘Is this what you mean?’

4. Did you encourage Ps to ask questions? often the teacher asks questions and waits very briefly for an answer if he does not get it, he gives the answer himself

a) Did you make predictions based on your ideas? The intention to show that it was not just a guess by Ps is , for me, very important. Since pre-concepts were expressed and thus are more susceptible for conceptual changes if necessary.

b) Did the activity encourage you to ask questions? The teachers task to encourage Ps asking questions is crucial in order to activate Ps participation during the lesson. I chose those where I work hard with my students because they are very young and are starting the research work in a more serious way.
I think it is very important to understand that the result of our investigation is that it will say whether we had a correct idea or not on a certain subject, when it became for us an object of investigation.
The second question, because I consider it very important to develop the idea that the research activity leads to a conclusion that has to be in accordance with our initial problem; there can be no doubt about the results; at least because of a mistaof the investigation.

Each question has a particularly important role on self assessment. These two ias particularly imourtant to me and my class:

1- Did you give Ps positive feedback on how to review or take their ideas further? - Because, they need to be encouraged to go further, or sometimes need to hear that they are on the right way. Sometimes, they think they are at the top and there is nothing to do anymore, so they need to be helped to open new doors in their mind .

2- Did you encourage Ps to reflect on what they found and how they found it? - Because reflecting ideas is a way to organize learning in mind. While reflecting, they will also realise their mistakes. In addition their communication skills, one of the most important skills of 21st century, will be developed.

I think "Did you work on a question which you identified as important?" is a very important question. I think students often don't know why they need to learn certain topics. By having them identify questions that are important to them, they find out that there is a need to know more science content as they begin and get into the process of trying to investigate and answer those questions. Another question that I think is important is "Did you take part in planning the investigation?" A lot of times when students in my area get the opportunity to do lab activities, they are what I would call canned labs where all of the specific directions are given to them. I think this deprives them of the opportunity to actually lean how to design an experiment.

from my point of view, the two questions I would choose are:

since they lead the students to considering the variables involved in their investigation ( dependent, independent and control) which is one of the things my students find more difficult. Reflecting on the variables helps them pin down the investigation, sources of error and also helps them set testable hypothesis, which I feel are the starting point of the scientific method.

As a natural result of carrying out an investigation on their own, they gain some skills such as developing a plan, following the steps of scientific study, explore how scientific findings are used in solving real-life problems, analyze their findings.

I chose this question because I believe that this is extremely important for student to investigate the questions that relevant for him and he find this question as "worth investigating".

If he cannot choose the question he wants to deal with, he should at least understand why it is important to investigate it. This can increase his motivation to engage in learning through inquiry and his enjoyment from the inquiry process.

I think this question is important so that students understand from the start of the experiment what they are testing.It´s important for students to identify a problem and decide how they will try to solve it. It also acts as a ´check´ during and at the end of the experiment to keep students on track and avoid students going in the wrong direction with the experiement.It provides guidance and keeps students focused.

I think this question provides verbal feedback for a teacher to assess during the practical whether students understand what they are investigating and whether they can draw some conclusions before they obtain the results. It also forces the students to think at a deeper level about what they are investigating, to question their procedure to obtain their results and how they are going to record the results. I think it is so important that students actively participate in group work activity - as we know some find it so easy to sit back and let others do the work or they are too shy and lack the self esteem to put their ideas forward. I would love to see each student build on their confidence with these activities. Also critically evaluating the data, whether erroneous or not, and deriving a proper explanation for the results is so important. Studen'ts need to be able to evaluate method suitability and the data collected.
