I think it can be a great way for students to know what they know and show what they know and in return they can see where they need help/more/extra in. Many teachers want the quick easy grade to satisfy the student and parent need for the numerical number, but if we can find a great way to implement mastery based or standards based with portfolio type system; I think teachers, students, parents will benefit in the long run.
