Scat by Derrica https://padlet.com/dmaxwell5366/g2jmdhpb37ct en-us 2017-09-25 14:36:30 UTC 2023-02-28 17:40:30 UTC hello@padlet.com part1-word reflectoin dmaxwell5366 https://padlet.com/dmaxwell5366/g2jmdhpb37ct/wish/190860524 Scat was an awesome reading selection that portrayed moments of caring, sharing, and bravery.  The character, Nick, was very brave.  He climbed a tree and gave the baby panther to its mother knowing she could possibly attack him.  Brave is an important word because Nick knew he could get hurt.  Ms. Starch was very caring by nurturing the baby panther with comfort and food.  I chose caring because it shows that Ms. Starch is not just a mean and strict teacher.  She can be nice and caring too.  The character Twilly was very helpful.  He saved Ms. Starch from a wildfire.  I chose the word helpful because it explains how Ms. Starch got into the panther business.  She was trying to repay Twilly for saving her.  


            The book Scat is an intriguing book. Scat has some characters with a great talent and and is filled with an amazing mystery. Scat is intriguing because it kept me wondering what would happen next.  I would read for about an hour and a half not wanting to put the book down.  I included this word to gain the attention of others.  I wanted them to know how much I liked the book.  I hope that they will want to check it out.  One of the characters, Smoke, used his tracking talent to find the mother panther.  The word talent explains how Smoke found the mother panther.  This book is a mystery because the teacher disappeared.  Nick and Marta went to find her.  The word mystery is in the word cloud because it tells what genre the book is.  It further tells how Nick and Marta contributed to the climax of the story.

I actually felt like I was a part of the book.  I could relate to Nick and Marta about their strict teacher, Ms. Starch.  The characters in this book are very believable from the beginning to the end of the story.  The story shows how most kids relate to older kids like Smoke.  The author does not give much description about the characters appearance, but he does a good job expressing their thoughts and feelings.  I do not have any friends that would go as far as these friends in finding their teacher.  However, I do have many friends that love animals.  


            I have read a similar book written by Carl Hiaasen.  The name of the book is Flush.  The part of Scat that was interesting to me was when a student had to write a paper on pimples.  This part interesting to me because I was anxious to see how the paper turned out.  I would recommend someone reading this book because it includes many genres.  I would rate this book a thumbs up.  Scat gets a thumbs up because it is a book you would not want to stop reading.  It has great suspense from chapter to chapter.
