There are many kinds of viruses, each of which can perform different actions. Two very common types of viruses are fake antivirus and rescue programs.

Fake antivirus: they are programs visually very similar to a legitimate antivirus, although they have the same behavior as a virus. Its intention is to force the user to pay the full version of the malicious program and perform other actions with the computer. Access to our computer is through banners that warn of non-existent infections within a file.
Rescue programs or ransomware: they are viruses that prevent us from using the equipment, as long as we do not pay a certain amount of money, blocking it or encrypting our information. To be more convincing, they sometimes use the logos of authorities or official bodies to intimidate victims. In this way they make us believe that we have been sanctioned for some illegal action.

Encryption and / or deletion of information
Some viruses are programmed in such a way that they are capable of deleting personal information such as videos, photographs, contacts, documents, etc. In these cases it may be difficult or impossible to recover such information unless we have a backup copy.

Data theft
Today, one of the main objectives of malware is the theft of information, mainly banking, to obtain an economic benefit, but also of any other type.

In the case of information theft, the implications may result in loss of privacy, impersonation, commission of crimes on our behalf or economic losses.

Impersonation
If we have been victims of information theft, we can suffer an impersonation both in digital life and in the physical world. The well-founded suspicion that you are the victim of a phishing should be brought to the attention of the security experts of the State Security Forces and Bodies (FCSE).
