the steam engine made in 1765 by James Watt. James Watt's invention had a big impact on the industrial revolution. by making the Steam engine he made it possible for more invention to come from it. the steam engine was used for powering machines or turning wheels while the steam would move one or more pistons back and forth to operate the machine it is powering. not only was the steam engine a power source that could power large machines but it also allowed factories to be brought up anywhere in cities and towns.

The steam engine was a very reliable power source since it didn't rely on if the wind was blowing or if the water in the stream wasn't run dry. since most factories were ether powered by man, wind, or water they were mainly built near rivers or some type of water source. these sources aren't always reliable to be able to use these sources everyday. James Watt's steam engine wasn't built until 1778 and had improved the work ability of the engine for use considerably. Textile factories used steam engines and water wheels to power their factories and used steam engines to transport good on steamboats and steam locomotives.

The steam engine’s impact on society was a tremendous amount. The steam engines invention would soon lead from improvements to improvements. Sooner or later the steam engine would then be modified to be strong enough to power transportation vehicles. And from there is only the beginning. The inspiration of the steam engine would lead to even more modified engines such as gasoline powered engines. From the steam engine many inventors for years to come will see things wrong with the design and modify it just like James Watt had done when he saw that Newcomen’s design of the steam engine he had made to pump water out of mines had been wasting steam and the power source that could be used for so much more.
