Cystic fibrosis is hereditary and effects the lungs where it produces thick mucus that can clog and obstruct the lungs. Poppy is also the second daughter and third child of Wendy and Brian Bell and the result of Wendy’s on-again and off-again affair with Brian’s best friend Sam. Most of Wendy’s pregnancy with Poppy, she was stressed and depressed because of resentment from Brian and Poppy’s siblings. Also, Poppy’s biological father is not in her life.
