         <description><![CDATA[<div>Poppy is a 13-year-old adolescent who suffers from cystic fibrosis and was born underweight. Cystic fibrosis is hereditary and effects the lungs where it produces thick mucus that can clog and obstruct the lungs. Poppy is also the second daughter and third child of Wendy and Brian Bell and the result of Wendy’s on-again and off-again affair with Brian’s best friend Sam. Most of Wendy’s pregnancy with Poppy, she was stressed and depressed because of resentment from Brian and Poppy’s siblings. Also, Poppy’s biological father is not in her life.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>During pregnancies, women can become emotionally aroused where their glands will secrete hormones such as adrenaline that can cross the placental barrier and enter the fetus’s bloodstream and causes an increase in motor activity temporarily. However, prolonged and severe emotional stress can affect the fetus during development and babies whose mothers was highly stressed tend to be smaller, experience cognitive development delays, and have a higher chance of experiencing depression at the age of 11 (Sigelman &amp; Rider, 2018).<br><br></div>]]></description>

Another major change for preteens is growth spurts, preteens especially young girls starting developing physically as well. (puberty)&nbsp; However poppy has not hit hers and this is significantly damaging her self-esteem (Sigelman &amp; Rider, 2018).</div>]]></description>

Autonomy is the capacity to make decisions on their own and to be able to mange their lives without worrying about the help from others. Wendy has a helicopter parenting style which is inappropriate levels of control and assistance to late adolescents emerging. Now that poppy is an adolescent she can not make the best decisions for herself because she is always used to her mom making these decisions for her (Singelman &amp; Rider, 2018).&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
