<description>People have been communicating by letter for at least 2,000 years. However, with the arrival of the internet and email, the handwritten letter has been in serious decline.

However, there are signs that people have been writing more letters recently. Newspapers have reported a rise in stationery sales and several internet campaigns have sprung up in an attempt to save the art of letter writing, such as the annual Month of Letters, in which thousands of participants write a letter a day for a month.

So letter writing may not die...quite yet!
