Week 1 - Getting Ideas & Making Mind Maps!

Growing up I have always been into fashion, not just for girls but also for guys. I believe that we all should feel gorgeous in whatever we choose to wear. My original idea for this project was to travel around South Australia and show people what beautiful sites and places that we have to visit. I branched out on my mind map, and noticed that each places sparked an idea to me that they involve the four seasons that we have in a year. By this, I mean going to the beach during summer/spring, and being indoors such as visiting the museum or having warm drinks in cafes during autumn/winter.

Original mind map (open in new window to read clearly)

Week 2 - Putting Ideas Together!

Once I finished creating the mind map, I reflected on all the points that I made. As mentioned on the previous text, the four seasons came up in my mind- and by connecting fashion with the seasons, this whole idea became more of an interest and aim for my project. I want the audience to feel inspired by the style of clothing(s) I have chosen, and by including all four seasons of the year, this allows various choices of outfits to inspire the audience.

Week 3 - Finalising Ideas!

After finalising what I wanted for my project, I was able to look at my main focus more in depth. Moreover, I wanted to approach my audience by including both males and females dress styles for not only one specific day, but for each season- Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring. I thought about how effective I wanted it to be, therefore I came up with the idea of creating two look book videos- one for the summer/spring style clothing, and the other being autumn/winter.

Week 4 - Choosing Outfits & Having Look Books!

Keeping up with style can be challenging as everyone likes to feel good in 'up-to-date' styles. While this may be a great thing, it could also be money consuming (shall I say). By advertising clothes that are bought from affordable online stores, to clothes that are bought in stores, even in op shops- I am able to combine an outfit for each of my models for each of the four seasons. This is where the look book idea came across to me as it really shows the audience how just very simple styles can be worn together and make you look well presented when going out, rather than having to spend money on one or two specific high end brand(s).

Week 5 - Finding Models & Finalising Outfits!

Of course the project would not be able to be complete without models or a videographer/photographer, therefore I was able to reach out to my four friends- three males (two as my models, one as my videographer/photographer), and one female (as my model). I wrote up a list of outfits that I am looking for for each season, and was able to succeed in this.
The styles of clothing I am aiming for is hip, clean, while looking both casual or dressed up (as you can see from the images around). The models in these images are not the same ones I will be having in my project, but these are just a few examples as to the kind of style I want to portray.

The secret for this is to find each item of clothing to be plain in colour, while having minimal patterns and prints (this makes it easier to tie in the full outfit). Colours that are suitable for the seasons is also a focus, for example; burgundy, mauve/nude colours for autumn, bright pastel colours for summer, white/lace pattern for spring, and cool colours such as navy, deep red, or shades of black & white for winter
