         <description><![CDATA[<div>Henri Moissan was the one who discovered fluorine <br><br>He isolated fluorine by electrolysis of dry potassium hydrogen fluoride (KHF<sub>2</sub>) and dry hydrofluoric acid.<br><br>He collected the gas by passing an electric current through one of its compounds, hydrogen fluoride (H <sub>2</sub> F <sub>2</sub> ).<br><br>The mineral fluorspar was used in metal refining. It was used as a flux to separate pure metal from the unwanted minerals in ore.</div>]]></description>
