There is a vaccine for the flu. It doesn't prevent all the strains of the flu though. You can treat the flu with rest and medicine for flu like symptoms. Pain relievers and cough medicine can also help.

Every single time I've gotten the flu, I stayed sick for around 1-2 weeks. I got treated by taking medicine for flu like symptoms and tea. I also took pain medicine so it would help with my really stong headaches. I stayed at home, usually alone. I threw up a lot and I wouldn't stop coughing. After some time, the flu started being less irritable. i did cough a lot even after I wasn't sick but I made sure to not cough on anyone. Around 2 years ago I did get the flu and it got really bad that I had to go to the hospital. They gave me an antiviral drug and a anti-flammatory drug.
