         <description><![CDATA[<div>Benefits: the students learn from one another, discuss, deeper their understanding, identify there is flexibility to solving problems.<br><br></div><div>Strategies used: whole classroom instruction/discussion students justify how they got their answer and share with their peers (friendly number problems), useful representations of the problems. Shared the student's work on the large whiteboard/ visuals- breaking the problem down into a visual/drawing. The teacher checked/ensured understanding. Used mathematical terms (referred to the terms throughout the lesson). Direct modeling asked the students questions to broaden their thinking in solving the problem.<br><br></div><div>Effective Engagement strategies: The students were engaged and learned from one another, learned that the problem can be solved inflexible methods- more than one way to solve the problem.<br><br></div><div>I would implement: The lesson was great. I resonate with the use of manipulatives to solve the problem and collaborate and practice solving problems to ensure their understanding. I would implement/and reference a math wall.<br><br></div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>
