This is my mind map for my contextual research on different crisp adverts. I have researched Pringles and Walkers adverts and taken note of the narrative of the adverts and what style they have. As part of my research I also looked at the time concept of the adverts. One of the adverts contained humour whereas the other showed people having a good time, this was the differences.

First official day and I completed a deconstruction for a Citroen C4 advert from 2006. I pointed out the key lemons of the advert and explained the purpose of it. I also gave details of the target audience, persuasive content, etc.

Today, I typed my out my own individual script that explains the camera shots, time frames and stage directions. I also mentioned what sound effects and music instrumentals we used.

We also created a questionnaire for people in other groups to complete as well. The majority of people thought that the advert worked well for product featured. A lot of people also liked our transfer from a grey picture to a coloured picture, which represents Paul's gloom and doom and then a transfer to where he's happy. They thought it worked perfectly with the pacing of the video.

However, some people thought that the camera zoom wasn't as smooth as it could of been, so that is something we need to improve on.

our overall score from all the questionnaire results put together is an average of 4.5 which is a very solid result.

This afternoon I started looking at some animation music videos on youtube. One of them is called 'White Stripes - the hardest button'. I made some notes on this too.

I also looked at a Kit-Kat animated advert. Which shows someone getting frustrated when their computer goes wrong at work. He goes to a Kit-Kat vending machine and feels better.

I wrote up my synopsis for mine and Luke's hand drawn animation idea. This gives a main idea as to what our hand-drawn animation is about and what it features.

Me and Luke created an updated storyboard for our car animation idea. This time we got rid of the idea of the car crashing at the end and just changed the background of the scenery throughout the advert. It went from a city, to a forest, to mountains and then the final bit with just a house.

I took a picture of our drawings that we used for our hand-drawn animation. We drew a car going along past four or five different backgrounds that included a city, forest, mountains, pyramids and a house. We had to draw on 80 different sheets for 10 frames per second. This meant that our animation lasted roughly about 8 seconds. In the end it did work pretty well for a first go at this module.

I watched Terry Gillingham's "Monty Python" on YouTube. This is an example of stencil animation. It's made to look like a life-size person is stamping on someone else who has been shrunk.

This is the first ever South Park episode in 1992 which was created with stencil animation. The background stayed the same while the characters moved. This probably would have taken weeks to make in the earlier days.

I took a photo of our meteor shower stencil animation. We used a space background and cut out 4 clip art meteors. We also added images of the moon, Earth and few other planets such as Jupiter and Saturn on to photoshop so it was made to look more realistic with the background.

I took a picture of using the machines to create our stencil animation work. We zoomed in with the camera to make sure our background fitted in perfectly. Then I moved the meteors across our space background to make it look like they were heading towards the Earth.

I took a screen shot of a Lego object animation video on YouTube. The video is called 'Lego School' Basically, they move Lego characters around a Lego-built school. They make the voiceovers, movement, facial expressions very realistic.

I took a screen shot of the video called 'Lego Shopping' which is another example of object animation. Lego characters are moved round a shopping centre with different items in the shots which make up the theme of the animation.

I did some contextual research on TV idents. This can range from different channels such as Channel 4, BBC 2, Sky Sport F1, etc. This is a short animation which introduces the programme you are about to watch. (they can include voiceovers) Usually, idents last about 10 seconds or a little bit more. (There are exceptions like Channel 4) Most idents include a theme as well, such as BBC 2 who make some kind of background into a 2, or Channel 4 who make buildings in a city or rocks on a beach into a 4.

I put my contextual research for idents on to powerpoint. It obviously won't be all on one slide and will take up a few slides. I want to get as much detail as I can on to this powerpoint.

I drew and wrote out a storyboard that explains our idea for a TV ident. This features a man fishing and catches a goldfish. The goldfish pulls him in to the river but then he floats back up to the top and gets struck by lightning. The title for our ident is called 'Fishin' Fools' which represents a fishing programme and stupid people fishing.

I also made some pebbles for the water. I had to roll them between my hands to make them look as realistic as possible. Luke also made some pebbles which should be enough to fill the whol river set.

i took a picture of a sun and lightning templates I cut out. The sun will be still throughout our animation but the lightning will come in at the end and strike the fisherman.

This is more of my contextual research on TV idents. Here, there is a Christmas theme for BBC 1 and the Magic music channel. Also, there is a BBC 3 ident which includes a magician rubbing his hands and making the BBC 3 logo.

This slide describes the TV idents for channel 5 in 2011 and Sky 1 in 1993. Both of these have similar ident styles, their animations both roll in instantly and both include a voiceover telling the viewers what channel they are watching.

This slide describes the idents for GOLD and Jetix (now known as Disney Channel) The GOLD ident is from December 2013 and is Christmas themed. Jetix just has a simple ident where the animation rolls straight in and has a voiceover. It lasts about 4-5 seconds. I also described what the purpose of an ident is on this slide.

Today we started filming our animation called Fishin' Fools. We had our set all ready to start working. We first moved our character over the bridge and then he would start fishing. After that the fish will pull him into the river. Finally, he will float back up to the top and get struck by lightning to show that he is a fool.

Here is another picture of our group in action filming our animation, Fishin' Fools. Gabby is moving the gel along with some kind of comb to make it look like a realistic river. We used gel for the river and plasticine for the pebbles. We sued stencils for the sun, clouds and lightning that's on the background. We also used plasticine for the grass ad to cover the bridge, which is made of cardboard.

This is our first experiment of using pixilation. 'Spinning Chair' is basically Luke sitting still on a chair and then spinning round on it several times

This is our second attempt of using pixilation. This is video is more detailed than the last one. We do 2x4 frames per second of the chair spinning round on its own. Then we do 2x8 frames per second of the Luke sitting still on the chair. Then we do 2x4 frames per second again of the chair doing a full 360 degrees spin on its own. Then, for the final part, we do 2x8 frames per second of Paolo sitting still on the chair.
